International Video Poetry Festival #11
This past year, I had the incredible opportunity to participate in the International Video Poetry Festival in Athens, Greece. My sister traveled with me, and we were assigned a wonderful sponsor family, the Doutsiou family, who warmly welcomed us during our stay in Athens. Before the festival, we took time to explore Santorini and a few other beautiful islands, soaking in the rich history and culture of Greece.
The International Video Poetry Festival is one of the largest platforms for visual and spoken word poetry, bringing together artists from all over the world. The festival spans two days: the first day is dedicated to video poetry screenings, while the second day showcases live performances. I was honored to have my video poem “Onward” selected for screening on the first night of the festival. The following evening, I performed several live selections, sharing my work with an international audience.

During the trip, I made meaningful connections with artists and poets from around the world. One of the poets I met in Athens has already expressed interest in traveling to the U.S. to perform in one of my upcoming productions. The exchange of creative energy at the festival was inspiring, and I’m thrilled to bring some of that global collaboration back home.
